Gospel

Simply stated, the Gospel is the good news of the redeeming work of God through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

What is the “good news?” It is that Jesus Christ died and was raised again for you and me so that we, through faith in Jesus, might be delivered from eternal condemnation because of our sin, and thus, we might live eternally in the presence of Jesus.

  • Sin came into the world through the disobedience of Adam-original sin.
  • We are all sinful and we need to be redeemed from sin to be in the presence of God.
  • Jesus is true God and true man in one person.
  • Jesus is the son of God.
  • Jesus physically died on a cross to redeem our sins-according to witnesses.
  • Jesus physically rose from the dead in three days-according to witnesses.
  • Jesus physically ascended into heaven-according to witnesses.
  • The Church (the body of believers) awaits Jesus’ second coming when He will judge all people.
  • Those who trust (believe) in Jesus as their Savior will rise to eternal life in heaven.
  • Those who deny Jesus will be cast out of His presence and spend eternity in hell.

The Gospel is About Love

For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in him should not parish but have eternal life (John 3:16).

Luther’s Small Catechism

I believe that Jesus Christ, true God, begotten of the Father from eternity, and also true man, born of the virgin Mary, is my Lord, who has redeemed me, a lost and condemned person, purchased and won me from all sins, from death, and from the power of the devil; not with gold or silver, but with His holy, precious blood and with His innocent suffering and death, that I may be His own and live under Him in His kingdom and serve Him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness, just as He is risen from the dead, lives and reigns to all eternity.

Where Do You Go After You Receive Faith In Jesus

Jesus sanctifies those who believe in Him by sending the Holy Spirit into their hearts to rule, comfort, and make them alive. The Holy Spirit defends them against the devil and from the power of sin. Go to the “Spiritual Growth” page to find ways to mature your faith and live a God pleasing life.
